CFO OPENS THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Since 1991, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has spearheaded the biennial Gawad ng Pangulo Awards. It was institutionalized under E.O.498 issued by former President Corazon C. Aquino to honor and recognize overseas Filipinos and other individuals or organizations which contribute to Philippine development initiatives, or promote the interests of overseas Filipino communities. The awards are also given to overseas Filipinos who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in their work or profession, and have thereby brought to the Filipino nation. A distinct category in the awards is also reserved for foreign individuals or organizations for their exceptional contribution to the Philippines and for advancing the cause of overseas Filipino communities.

Since inception, the awards have already been bestowed upon 437 Filipino individuals and organization overseas from 49 countries and territories.
The Presidential Awards highlight the time-honored Filipino values of PAKIPAGKAPWA, PAGTUTULUNGAN and PAGKAKAISA.

The four (4) award categories:

1. LINGKOD SA KAPWA PILIPINO (LINKAPIL) AWARD – This award is conferred on Filipino associations or individuals for their exceptional or significant contribution to reconstruction, progress and development in the Philippines.

2. KAANIB NG BAYAN AWARD – This award is conferred on foreign individuals or organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine reconstruction, progress and development, or have significantly benefited a sector or community in the Philippines, or advanced the cause of overseas Filipino communities.

3. BANAAG AWARD – This award is conferred on Filipino individuals or associations for their significant contribution to advance the cause or promote the interests of overseas Filipino communities.

4. PAMANA NG PILIPINO AWARD – This award is conferred on Filipinos Overseas, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION:

All nominations submitted through mail or online must be received by the CFO on or before 31 May 2016. Non-submission of required documents may be a cause for disqualification of the nominee.
