One of the core components of curriculum of Hyde Park Schools in Austin, Texas is service to communities in need, following the teachings of Jesus Christ. GOweek is an annual week-long service project during which groups of Hyde Park students go to various locations around the globe to serve communities in need. While our middle school and elementary students partner with local organizations to serve in Texas and other parts of the United States, teams of HP high school students travel to various countries. In 2017, Hyde Park teams served communities in Rwanda, Uganda, Peru, Jamaica, Guatemala, Haiti, and a host of other countries on three different continents. For GOweek 2018, Hyde Park is sending a team of students and teachers to the Philippines for the first time, to serve the community of MASA Ati School, an academy established exclusively for the Ati tribal people to help them in their struggle to overcome poverty.
