Why: “Tao Po! We Are Here” is part of Kayamanan’s goal to present and promote Filipino folk arts and culture to its members and audiences here in Los Angeles. In its 26th year, KNL is expanding its normal folk arts presentation beyond folk dance and music, by incorporating contemporary themes and messages relevant in today’s social and political climate and making a statement that Filipinos in America are here, there and everywhere in all walks of life and communities…contributing to the social, professional and political landscape while staying in touch with their ancestral roots and maintaining the strong Filipino values such as “kapwa” – a sense of togetherness and inner self and “kagandahang-loob” or shared humanity. Multi-faceted is the Filipino, and we are here to showcase its rich and diverse cultural heritage; we are there to showcase the talents of contemporaries in folk dance, musical theatre, urban dance, martial arts; we are everywhere to claim our presence, show our strength, our shared humanity with other cultures and groups, and be proud of who we are.

Unique to the event: Four original music will be debuted written and sung by Anthony Fedorov.
