Los
Angeles, 29 December 2011 – The officers and staff of the Philippine
Consulate General and the public in attendance, led by Consul Charmaine Serna Chua, Acting Head of Post, held a flag
ceremony at the Rizal Hall of the Consulate General to commemorate the 115th
anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal, Philippine National Hero.
After a
mock trial, Dr. Jose Rizal was convicted of rebellion, sedition and of forming
illegal association. In the cold
morning of 30 December 1896, Rizal, who was 35 years old, was shot at Bagumbayan Field.

Similar
celebrations will be held in the City of Carson and National City on 30
December 2011 being organized by the members of the Filipino-American
community.
